T-Mobile Prepaid Refill: Amounts, Service Fee, Totals
Mitti
A T-Mobile prepaid refill adds credit to a US prepaid account. This guide shows all six amounts available through Mitti, the service fee on each one and the total charged to your card. You can refill your own number or someone else's using only the mobile number. T-Mobile also accepts payments directly, so Mitti is not your only option. The difference is that Mitti does not require an account login, and the person receiving the credit does not need to install anything or complete a separate step on their phone.
Is It A US T-Mobile Number Or T-Mobile Puerto Rico?
T-Mobile US and T-Mobile Puerto Rico are separate products on Mitti, with different refill amounts and prices. The Puerto Rico option does not appear on the United States product page. Before choosing an amount, check where the prepaid line is registered, not where the person using it happens to be.
| Prepaid Line | Mitti Page | Lowest Amount | Cost Of $10 Credit |
|---|---|---|---|
| T-Mobile US | United States | $5 | $10.00 + $1.00 fee = $11.00 |
| T-Mobile Puerto Rico | Puerto Rico | $10 | $10.36 + $1.04 fee = $11.40 |
Prices shown are accurate at the time of writing and may change. Check the current amounts on the T-Mobile US page and T-Mobile Puerto Rico page.
Both destinations use the +1 country code, so the number format alone does not tell you which product to choose. A Puerto Rico mobile number is entered as it is dialled locally, with +1 added by Mitti. The important distinction is the destination and carrier selected at checkout. If you are refilling a family member's phone and are unsure which product applies, confirm the line's registered market with them before paying. Choosing the wrong destination can mean choosing a product that does not match their prepaid account.
How To Refill A T-Mobile Prepaid Number
You can refill a T-Mobile prepaid number through Mitti without signing in to a T-Mobile account. You need the correct mobile number, your own email address and a supported payment method. Follow these five steps:
1. Open the T-Mobile United States page. Start your T-Mobile prepaid refill by selecting the US carrier page. If the number belongs to Puerto Rico, use the separate Puerto Rico product instead.
2. Choose the amount. Select one of the available refill denominations. Read the product price, service fee and full total before continuing. The amount added to the prepaid account is not necessarily the same as the amount charged to your card.
3. Enter the mobile number. Type the ten-digit number as it is dialled within the United States. Mitti adds the +1 country code. The recipient does not need a Mitti account, and nothing has to be installed, claimed or collected on their phone.
4. Enter your email address. Use an email address you can access. This is where Mitti sends the order receipt and delivery confirmation, so it should be your own address when you are paying for someone else.
5. Complete the payment. Review the number and amount once more, then pay using an available card or digital wallet. Keep the order confirmation in case you need to refer to the purchase later.
The important detail is the recipient's number. If you are paying for a parent or another relative, you do not need to ask them for their account password or have them open an app.
What A T-Mobile Prepaid Refill Costs: Amounts, Service Fee And Total
Mitti offers six US T-Mobile prepaid refill amounts, from $5 to $50. Each denomination has a product price and a separate service fee. The total is what you pay, while the selected denomination is the credit added to the prepaid account. The table below shows the prices recorded on 13 October 2026. It includes the service fee for each option rather than displaying only the face value of the credit.
| Credit Added | Price (USD) | Service Fee | Total (USD) |
|---|---|---|---|
| $5 | $5.01 | $0.99 | $6.00 |
| $10 | $10.00 | $1.00 | $11.00 |
| $20 | $20.00 | $2.00 | $22.00 |
| $30 | $30.02 | $3.00 | $33.02 |
| $40 | $40.02 | $4.00 | $44.02 |
| $50 | $50.02 | $5.00 | $55.02 |
Prices may change from the time of writing. For the latest amounts, service fees and totals, visit the T-Mobile prepaid refill page on Mitti.
For example, a $20 refill was priced at $20.00, with a $2.00 service fee. That brought the total payment to $22.00. The recipient still received the full $20 in prepaid credit. The product price can also differ slightly from the denomination. On the date checked, the $30 option cost $30.02 before the service fee, while the $40 and $50 options were also priced two cents above face value. That is why the table separates the credit amount from the product price. Mitti's service fee is 10% of the refill amount, with a minimum of $0.99. It is added to the price rather than deducted from the recipient's credit. You see the total before authorizing payment, so you can decide whether the amount suits your budget.
Why The Fee On A $5 Refill Is 19.8% And Not 10%
The $5 refill has a higher effective service fee because Mitti applies a minimum charge of $0.99. Ten percent of $5 would be $0.50, which is below that minimum. As a result, the $0.99 fee represents 19.8% of the $5 credit amount. On a $10 refill, the calculation changes. Ten percent of $10 is $1.00, which is above the minimum, so the standard percentage applies. The same principle applies to the larger denominations. The fee is calculated separately from the credit the recipient receives. This matters when deciding how much to add. Two separate $5 refills would carry $1.98 in service fees, compared with $1.00 for one $10 refill. If you know the account needs $10, splitting that amount into two purchases would cost more in fees. There may still be a reason to choose the smaller option if the account needs only $5. The point is to compare the total payment, not just the denomination printed on the product.
Paying T-Mobile Direct, And When Mitti Is The Easier Route
You can make a one-time prepaid payment directly through T-Mobile. Mitti is an alternative, not a replacement for the carrier's payment service. With Mitti's service fee added, it is not the cheaper way to refill a T-Mobile account. The reason to use Mitti is the information required to complete the purchase. If you are paying for someone else's phone, you may know their number without having access to their prepaid account.
- Paying T-Mobile directly: The carrier offers its own prepaid payment routes, including options for guest payments and account holders.
- Paying through Mitti: You enter the recipient's mobile number and complete the purchase without logging in to their T-Mobile account.
- On the recipient's phone: There is no Mitti app to install and no separate credit code for the recipient to redeem.
- When paying for someone else: You can use your own email address and payment method without asking the other person to share account credentials.
If you already manage your own T-Mobile prepaid account and prefer the carrier's payment system, paying directly may make more sense. Mitti becomes useful when you want to handle the refill yourself but do not manage the account receiving it. For example, you might pay for a parent's prepaid line while living in another state. If you have their correct number, you can make the purchase without asking them to navigate a checkout or share a password.
What T-Mobile Does With The Refill Once It Arrives
A prepaid refill adds money to an existing account. It is not the same as buying a new mobile plan or activating a SIM card. Before purchasing, it helps to understand how T-Mobile handles prepaid payments. According to T-Mobile's prepaid refill guidance:
- Account payments: T-Mobile states that payments apply to the entire account rather than to an individual line. On a multi-line account, check how the account balance is managed. This carrier rule should be confirmed for third-party refills.
- Active accounts: T-Mobile says refills can only be purchased for active accounts. If a line is suspended or inactive, its status may need attention before you buy credit.
- Refill cards and ePINs: A physical refill card or electronic PIN is redeemed through T-Mobile's own process. That is different from a Mitti purchase, which uses the mobile number.
A refill also does not automatically change the recipient's plan. How the balance is used depends on the account and its existing prepaid arrangements. If you are trying to resolve an account restriction rather than add credit, contact T-Mobile before purchasing.
Payment Methods For A T-Mobile Refill
Mitti lists several payment methods for US prepaid refills:
- Visa, Mastercard and Maestro
- American Express
- Apple Pay
- Google Pay
The options shown at checkout can depend on your device and payment setup. Enter your own email address to receive the receipt and delivery confirmation. You do not need to create a Mitti account to buy the refill.
If The Credit Does Not Arrive: Refunds And Next Steps
If Mitti cannot deliver the top-up, you receive a refund of the top-up price, excluding the service fee. Keep your order confirmation and check the number and carrier shown on it before contacting Mitti support. Ask the recipient to check their prepaid account balance through their usual T-Mobile method. If the credit is missing, provide Mitti with the order details so the purchase can be investigated. Avoid placing a duplicate order while the original is being checked. A wrong number is a separate problem: credit sent to an incorrectly entered number may reach whoever holds that number. Check all ten digits before paying, especially when refilling a number that is not your own.
